I ventured over to Mohd. Ali society on a sunny Sunday morning , and experienced a delicious breakfast.

Caf’e Alao, located in the Kundan Broast lane (one after Khadi and Gelato Affairs off Tipu Sultan Road), serves the most scrumptious breakfast.

When I was taken there, I was warned it had a very desi feel to it. I had wondered if it meant cows and chickens were found far and wide in the locality. When I ended up there, I was pleasantly surprised. It was very quaint and cosy, I found nothing too desi about it at all. The room, though small, was sufficiently cooled by two AC’s, and it was painted a light blue – a rather unconventional colour. Stone and wood work dominated the small space – and I was pleased to see only one sofa in there – Couch culture is very uncomfortable. The place was given splashes of colour by using red lamps with wood work.

The menus matched the walls, and were straight forward in content – yet sophisticated and appetizing. A variety of breakfast items stood out – my favourites were the pancakes, the cheese mushroom omelette, and my pick of the day – The Chilli Cheese and Sausage omelette. Served with white or brown bread, a mini croissant, butter, jam, hash browns and a pan-warmed tomato seasoned with dried herbs, it was scrumptious.

Caf’e Alao serves a variety of interesting things. I believe their hot chocolate is also amazing. I intend to go back at the very next opportunity 🙂 Pictures coming soon
